Training

We are part of BSAC and offer Ocean Diver training for non-qualified students, through to BSAC Advanced Diver. All courses are taught by our highly-skilled volunteer instructors at times that suit both instructors and trainees (usually on weekends).

Our training can be located all over the island, just like our diving, and may be at quite early hours of the day so access to a private vehicle is a must.

Costs

We do our best to keep costs as low as possible. A typical BSAC Ocean Diver course costs around 16000 MUR.

Kit Requirements

You will need to purchase the following kit:

  • Mask
    • Ensure this is made using tempered glass, which all scuba diving masks should be.
    • To fit a mask, place it on your face without using the strap and breathe in through your nose. It should stick well to your face; if it does not, it will leak, so try another one!
  • Snorkel
    • Most snorkels are fine for scuba diving; a lot of times you will get a snorkel bundled with a mask.
  • Fins
    • Strap fins or full foot fins are both appropriate for diving in Mauritius.
    • Ensure you do not purchase snorkelling fins (which are very short). They’re cheaper but not appropriate for scuba diving!
    • Strap fins are more comfortable when any sort of walking is required, as you wear boots with them.
  • Boots
    • Only needed if you have strap fins
    • Should be a good snug fit for your feet.
  • Timing device (ie. a watch, or a dive computer)
    • Should be rated to 100m depth

We provide (as part of the training):

  • Buoyancy Compensator
  • Regulator
  • Depth Gauge
  • Cylinder
  • Wetsuit
